Pay Gap 2015

The surveys are in and it is shown that even though the pay gap between men and women is getting smaller it still exists.  Eileen Patton has written the article to show the statistics of pay between men and women as far as how long into the new year it would take a woman to earn to "catch up" to the earnings a man made the year before.

This article reinforces many of the posts that were submitted for week 2 Role of Women Discussion.  There are about 6 fellow classmates that wrote on this topic or one very similar.  This is a good indication of how "hot" this topic is.  What we have learned in our reading are several instances where women have stood up and fought for what they believed in.  They have supported our troops and fought for our rights.  Still today we see there are many people that still feel that women are being discriminated when it comes to their pay or even their jobs.  A suggested to the reason for this is because of the time gaps in a women's career in order to have children.

The bible is clear on the role of young married woman that has children.  In Titus2:3-4 "train the younger woman to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands to that on one will malign the Word of God.

Proverbs 31 speaks of "a wife of noble character," She works hard to keep her house and her family in order.  She is so industrious that she also works with a cottage industry that provides additional income for her family.  She was working to provide for her family not further her career or keeping up with others.  It is clear that a young woman's responsibility lies with her family.
